Arcanjo da Silva

Arcanjo da Silva is an East Timorese politician and economist.

Career

From 1987 to 1992 Silva worked in the Coffee Rehabilitation Project of the Indonesian occupation government.

Silva studied from 1995 to 1998 at Hasanuddin University in Makassar , where he received a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, and at the University of Queensland from 2001 to 2003, which he completed with a Master's in Management and Policy for Natural Resources.

From 2003 to 2005, Silva was then National Director in the East Timorese Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries . On July 26, 2005 he was appointed Deputy Minister for Development in the First Constitutional Government of East Timor . With the resignation of Prime Minister Alkatiri and the accession of José Ramos-Horta on July 14, 2006, Silva was promoted to Minister for Development . Silva kept the office under the following Prime Minister Estanislau da Silva , whose government was in office until August 8, 2007.

Arcanjo da Silva started working for the German Society for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) as a deputy project manager and senior technical consultant. He stayed there until 2015, when he became Executive Director of TradeInvest Timor-Leste , the state institute for promoting investments and exports, where he still works today (as of 2020).
