Joaquim Amaral (born June 17, 1968 in Viqueque , Portuguese Timor ) is a diplomat and politician from East Timor . He is a member of FRETILIN .

Amaral has a degree in agriculture. He is general secretary of the Associação the Arquitetos de Timor-Leste (ART), director of the Forte Group and Administrator of Funuman PT Ltd . Amaral was initially a member of the East Timor National Parliament from 2001 to 2007 . Member of Commission G (Commission for Infrastructure). After the new elections in 2007, he did not move up until August 21, 2007, one month after the first session of parliament. In his second legislative period he was a member of the Commission for Infrastructure and Social Facilities (Commission G).

On November 19, 2015, Amaral was appointed East Timor's new ambassador to Thailand . He succeeded João Câmara . In 2020 Amaral's term in Bangkok ended .

With the change in the governing coalition and the admission of FRETILIN into the 8th government , Amaral was sworn in as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs MCAE ( Portuguese Ministro Coordenador dos Assuntos Económicos ) on May 29, 2020 .
