Abram Ilyich Jampolski ( Russian Абрам Ильич Ямпольский ; * October 17, July / October 29,  1890 greg. , † August 17, 1956 ) was a Russian violinist and music teacher.

Life

Jampolski studied violin at the St. Petersburg Conservatory with Sergei Korgujew , a student of Leopold von Auer . After completing his studies in 1913, he was first violinist and concertmaster of the orchestra of the Bolshoi Theater . From 1922 he was a professor at the Moscow Conservatory . He initiated a children's class here, which he also taught himself and, with Lew Zeitlin and Konstantin Mostrass, founded the Persimfans , a symphonic ensemble made up of the members of the conservatory's faculty, with Joseph Szigeti as one of the first important artists who, after the October Revolution in Moscow made a guest appearance.

He was involved in the development of the lecture series Methodology of Violin Lessons and Violin Playing, edited numerous violin works such as the violin etudes by Rodolphe Kreutzer and the caprices by Niccolo Paganini and wrote cadenzas for violin concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms . In 1940 he was awarded the doctorate degree. His students included Leonid Kogan , Igor Besrodni , Nina Beilina , Julian Sitkowetzki , Juri Jankelewitsch and Pjotr ​​Bondarenko .
