Termination point line technique

EVz (gray box) as APL

The end of the branching cable of the subscriber connection line within the telephone network is referred to as the termination point for line technology (APL) or “house distributor for telephone lines” .

Details

Structure of the subscriber access network

The branching cable coming from the junction box ends at the APL . It is the interface to the house or end line network of the telephone customer and is usually located in the house connection room . It is only often found on the outside of the house wall in old installations. An installation cable generally leads from the APL to the 1st TAE . A building can be supplied from an APL in an auxiliary building if this is the most economical solution based on the local conditions. One then speaks of a third-party APL .

execution

Depending on the circumstances and requirements at the installation site, the APL is designed in various ways, for example as:

  • Distribution point (EVZ), the most common embodiment of an APL
  • Connection and distribution box (VVD)
  • Connection strip (AsLe)
For customers with large in-house installations, the APL is often built into the existing distribution device in the form of a connection strip (see also structured cabling and patch panels ).
  • Disconnection Module (Trle)
used as the terminal block, but may in disconnection modules by using a separation plug the house or Endleitungsnetz of the local loop for testing easily and quickly separated. Separating strips used as APL are still called
post separating devices (PTrE) in technical jargon . A mail separator was required in the time when the Deutsche Bundespost still had the monopoly in the telecommunications sector, as a separating point between the " Post's own " line and the private facility (e.g. a telephone system ).
