Connection and distribution box
Connection and distribution boxes ( VVD ) are used in communication technology to connect and divide telephone , ISDN or intercom lines (see distributors (communication technology) ) and to terminate external cables (e.g. as a termination point for line technology ).
As a rule, VVD are used when changing from one type of cable to another, for example from aerial cable to installation cable . This use is called cable transfer in technical jargon .
Another letter in the designation specifies the VVD more precisely according to their possible use:
- VVDi ("i" for interior construction), for use in interior areas
- VVDa ("a" for exterior construction), for damp rooms and outdoors
- VVDü ("ü" for overvoltage protection), cartridges can be installed to protect against overvoltage
- VVD83 , for 2 pairs
- VVD85 , for 10 pairs
