Abu l-Gharaniq Muhammad II ( Arabic أبو الغرانيق محمد بن أحمد, DMG Abū l-Ġarānīq Muḥammad b. Aḥmad ; † 875 ) was the eighth emir of the Aghlabids in Ifrīqiya (864–875).

Abu l-Gharaniq Muhammad II succeeded his uncle Ziyadat Allah II (863-864). He took over from his predecessors a solid empire with a prosperous economy and great wealth. So the esthete Muhammad II could indulge in his extravagance and display of splendor, wine and hunting. Under Muhammad II, the Aghlabids were able to conquer Malta and force Pope John VIII to pay tributes through their raids on the Italian mainland .

However, towards the end of his reign, a caravan of pilgrims from Mecca brought the plague into Ifriqiya. Together with the subsequent famines, this led to significant population losses and the weakening of the empire.

Muhammad II's successor was his brother Abū Ishāq Ibrāhīm II (875-902).
