AVA in the Ostend

The Academy of Visual Arts (AVA) is an educational institution in Frankfurt am Main . The private vocational school has around 150 students and 30 employees, 27 of whom are teachers. The AVA is a state-recognized substitute school within the meaning of Section 176 of the Hessian School Act .

education

The AVA offers a four-year, state-recognized training course. The training focuses on graphic design , illustration , typography , interior design and philosophy . Based on the specifically developed method of »narrative integration«, the students learn to reflect on sociological, psychological and philosophical processes and to question their own positions and realities of life. The didactic goal is the development of communicatively oriented designers who understand themselves as independent "authors" in communication processes by conveying and developing scientific, technical and creative skills.

The bilingual course ends with a state examination.

history

The painter and graphic artist Carlo Ruppert (1907–1997) founded the Westend Art School in 1957 , which later became the Academy of Visual Arts . The model was the Frankfurt Academy, an educational institution based on the Bauhaus model .

Outward effect

The AVA Academy of Visual Arts / Frankfurter Akademie contributes to the diversity of the cultural offerings in Frankfurt am Main through public lectures, publications and projects .

The AVA is located in the east of Frankfurt near the Ostpark in Ostparkstrasse 47-49.
