The Accordion Tribe is an international accordion group that was founded in Ghent in 1996 and is still in existence today.

Band history

In May 1996, five accordion players from five nations decided to form an ensemble; The artists brought the particularities of using this instrument in their respective cultures and developed them further in a modern direction. After a three-day rehearsal they gave a concert in Genter Vooruit and after its success they went on tour through Northern and Central Europe for three weeks. Recordings of these concerts were compiled and appeared on CD in 1997 with the title Accordion Tribe .

The original project initiator Guy Klucevsek put together a similar project under the name Four Accordions of the Apocalypse for some Europe-wide appearances in the spring of 1998 , but by the end of May the original cast was back together and formed a permanent ensemble. In addition to tours and performances outside of Europe, the group recorded two more albums in 2002 and 2006 in Lars Hollmer's Chickenhouse studio in Uppsala . The third album, called Lunghorn Twist , was named "Top of the World" by Songlines magazine.
