As a six-stage secondary school, an average of 25 classes in grades 5–10 with an average of around 600 students are taught.
Classrooms with computers and beamers as well as specialist rooms with scientific and technical teaching materials are available to the students.

particularities
As a partner school for winter sports, it promotes and supports students who practice competitive sports and is known across municipalities and districts. The students can be exempted from lessons and pursue their sporting goals and are honored for this by the school. Special achievements are various top placements in district championships, Bavarian or German championships, in the categories of cross-country skiing , biathlon , alpine skiing and speed skating .
The Achental-Realschule is also one of 18 Bavarian schools that take part in the Kompass² project. The project aims to improve student performance, primarily through "learning to learn". This is based on existing strengths. The focus is also on personal development and the acquisition and expansion of social skills.
Already three times in a row (2011/2012, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015) pupils of the Achental-Realschule have been awarded a prize in the “School Competition of the Federal President on Development Policy”. Together with their partner school in Montevideo ( Uruguay ), 5th or 6th grade students made valuable contributions to the competition, which aims to sensitize young people to the issues of global development.

The Achental Realschule is the only Realschule in the Achental . The school is not only attended by students from the Achental, but also from other parts of the Traunstein district and the neighboring Rosenheim district , as well as students from more distant communities due to the winter sports funding.
