Achille Compagnoni
Achille Compagnoni (born September 26, 1914 in Santa Caterina Valfurva , Province of Sondrio , Italy , † May 13, 2009 in Aosta ) was an Italian mountaineer .
Together with Lino Lacedelli, he was the first to climb the K2 on July 31, 1954 . The expedition was led by Ardito Desio . Compagnoni lived in Cervinia until his death . He died on the night of May 13, 2009 at the age of 94 in a hospital in Aosta.
