Achille Maramotti

Achille Maramotti (born January 7, 1927 in Reggio nell'Emilia , Italy , † January 12, 2005 in Albinea near Reggio nell'Emilia) was an Italian entrepreneur in the fashion industry and banker. Maramotti was a lawyer and had a PhD from the University of Rome .

In 1951 he founded the Max Mara fashion group out of a small family tailor's shop and was considered a pioneer of the modern pret-a-porter . The company has branches in over 80 countries and generated one billion euros in 2004. 2,700 people work for Max Mara.

According to a survey by Forbes newspaper , he came fourth in the ranking of the richest entrepreneurs in Italy with an estimated fortune of 1.9 billion euros.

He died at the age of 78 in his home near Reggio nell'Emilia.
