Achim Walcher

Achim Walcher (born December 1, 1967 in Schladming ) is a former Austrian cross-country skier .

Life

Walcher took part in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, where he was eleventh in the 15 km pursuit race and ninth with the Austrian relay. At the 1999 World Championships, he finished 10th over 50 km classic. In the World Cup season 99/00 the Austrians came second in Santa Caterina in the 4 × 10 km relay competition and in the individual he achieved his best World Cup result with 4th place. In Lahti at the World Championship dress rehearsal for 2001, the Austrian relay won over 4 × 10 km.

At the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he competed in the 50 km run and the 10 km pursuit. Because of his doping offense in the blood bag affair with coach Walter Mayer , his results were subsequently deleted by the IOC .

Walcher has been an ÖSV base trainer at the Schladming Ski Academy since 2002 . In 2016 he became division manager for cross-country skiing.

He is married to the former cross-country skier Maria Theurl-Walcher .
