Hermann Niedner
Gottfried Franz Hermann Niedner (* 1872 in Dresden ; † 1945 ) was a German politician and non-party democrat. He was a member of the Saxon state parliament and held the office of Lord Mayor of the city of Bautzen for fifteen years from 1918 to 1933 . During this time he devoted his particular commitment to creating social institutions and promoting urban sports. In 1933 his resistance to the National Socialist takeover led to his impeachment . In 2010 the Hermann Niedner Cup was launched as part of the Bautzen City Run as a reminder of his services.
