Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev ( Russian Ахмеднаби Омардибирович Ахмеднабиев * 29. December 1958 ; † 9. July 2013 in semender , Dagestan ) was a Russian journalist and deputy editor of the weekly Novoye Delo ( Новое дело ).

Akhmednabiev is known for his reports of human rights violations in Dagestan . In 2012, he unsuccessfully turned to the police about death threats. On January 11, 2013, strangers fired three shots at Akhmednabiev. He survived the attack unharmed. Half a year later, Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev was murdered not far from where he lived in Semender near Makhachkala .

Human Rights Watch sees a parallel to an attack on December 15, 2011: "The attack is strikingly similar to the murder of Gajimurad Kamalov , the founder and publisher of the Dagestani newspaper Chernovik , which was known for its editorial independence and investigative reporting."
