Acrotrichis intermedia is a beetle from the family of dwarf beetles (Ptiliidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 0.9 to 1.1 millimeters and are among the largest representatives of the genus in Central Europe. Their body is black or brownish-black in color and has a weak gloss. The posterior angles of the pronotum are pointed and drawn back. The former is at most slightly more shiny than the upper wing and is evenly structured very closely and punctiform. The wings are clearly tapered in the male and very little tapered in the female. The antennae and legs are yellow, the antennae end in a brown club.

Occurrence and way of life

The species occurs in Europe and Asia Minor . It is widespread in Central Europe and common everywhere. The animals live in forests under fallen leaves and rotting branches, but also on compost, carrion and dung.
