ActRaiser (ア ク ト レ イ ザ ー - Akutoreizā ) is a game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System that was first released in 1990. In the game, two game genres are combined: Action in platformers Run -style and construction simulation, such as in the game SimCity .

action

The order of the world is maintained by a deity known as "The Master". Tanzra, "The Evil One", is the master's eternal opponent and wants to destroy the world. On Tanzra's orders, his six guards attacked the master and fought with him for several days. Seriously wounded, the master withdrew after the fight to his heavenly palace, which was floating on a cloud, to treat his wounds there. He sealed the palace and fell into a long and deep sleep.

Tanzra's hour had come: he divided the world into six countries, each ruled by one of his guardians. The master did not awaken until several hundred years later, healed of his wounds, but he had lost his power after the people turned to evil . The master removed the seal from his palace and set himself the task of ridding the world of evil .

Course of the game

The game changes regularly between platformer- like action parts and sections that are to be played like a god simulation . The game character is equipped with a sword with which it makes its way through the levels, which are designed like a side-scroller . These are populated by classic monsters borrowed from mythology . If these have been successfully defeated, you have to defeat the final boss of the level. Once this has happened, a new section opens on the simulation level.

As god , the player controls an angel who has to supervise the construction of a city. Attacking monsters that come out of caves must be fended off. The population is instructed where roads are to be built, houses to be built and fields to be laid out. The aim is to close all the caves from which the monsters reached the upper world. A cave in the earth is sealed when people have succeeded in building a road up to it. In such a case, population growth increases. The larger the population and the happier the residents, the more likely they are to offer gifts to their God . The gifts then have the effect that certain values of the pawn are increased. Above a certain population density, which is reached when all caves are sealed, a catastrophe occurs that threatens the city, for example the eruption of a volcano. Now the second platform level of this section has to be played. If the final boss has been defeated here too, this part of the world is finally freed from evil .

Even after the first action level, the player can move across a large continent with a huge flying palace. In this way he floats to the individual areas in order to found a civilization there and drive away evil . If all the countries ruled by Tanzra were liberated in this way, the Master has done the job.

Subsequent issues

The game was followed by a sequel with ActRaiser 2 .

In 2004, the game was launched as a mobile version and included the first three levels of the original.

In 2007, Wii owners were given the opportunity to download the game for the Virtual Console .
