history

Abdank was first mentioned in a document in 1530. The settlement, which at that time consisted of five courtyards, was subordinate to the patrimonial court in chapels. After the abolition of patrimonial , Abdank became part of the community of Schönfelden and belonged to the political district of Kaplitz and the judicial district of Hohenfurth .

The largest of the farms had an area of 24 hectares . The four other estates, however, were much smaller and their management could not support the owners, who therefore earned their living in the Kienberg paper mill and only farmed as a sideline.

In 1910 Abdank had 37 inhabitants, in 1938 there were 35. All of the inhabitants were of German descent. As when it was first mentioned, 400 years later, Abdank consisted of five farms. The German residents were expelled between August and October 1946. Adámky was not repopulated. In 1959, when the state border with Austria was sealed off, the empty walls were demolished.

Neighboring towns were Krásná Pole ( Schönfelden ) in the north, Frantoly ( Frauenthal ) in the east and Kapličky ( chapels ) in the west. These villages, too, were evacuated for the Iron Curtain in the 1950s .
