Adagio is a French progressive metal / symphonic metal band. The guitarist Stephan Forté is the sole composer and lyricist . His style can be characterized as technically adept, complex, dark and characterized by driving rhythms and has recently become very solo-heavy. Growlings were added to the music for their album Dominate .

history

After Stephan Forté had released some demos and EPs in the USA as a composer and guitarist under various band projects, he recorded the first album Sanctus Ignis in France from 1999 . He called the project "Adagio". Dirk Bruinenberg, Franck Hermanny, David Readman and Richard Andersson were engaged as musicians, Dennis Ward produced the album. The second album Underworld was released in 2003 with partly new session musicians , which had significantly more symphonic influences. In 2003 a stable line-up enabled the band to tour Europe and the USA. The concerts in Paris and Strasbourg were released as a live album. In the summer of 2004 singer David Readman left the band and was replaced by the Brazilian Gus Monsanto. With him the album Dominate was recorded in 2004 .

Adagio have been working on the album Archangels in Black since 2006 , which contains nine tracks (plus an extra song for Japan). Most of the compositions were completed in mid-2006, the recording sessions began in autumn 2006. The album was not released until February 2, 2009. Archangels In Black is also the first album the band has recorded with new singer Chris Palin, the Gus Replaces Monsato and normally works for the Finnish band Essence Of Sorrow.
