Adalbero (Styria)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adalbero (nickname "der Raue"; † 1082 ) from the Traungau family was margrave of the Karantanermark (Styria).

He was the eldest son of Margrave Ottokar I of Styria and the Willibirg of Carinthia, daughter of Duke Adalbero von Eppenstein .

Like his father, he was on the side of Henry IV's party in the investiture controversy and fought against his brother Ottokar II. He was banned, renounced his brother, retained positions of the count and was murdered in the Ennstal in 1082. According to other sources (F. Tremel, J. Wartinger) his murder took place after 1086 near Julben (Leoben) by his own servants.
