Adalbert Gülzow

Adalbert Gülzow (born October 5, 1862 in Stralsund , † April 16, 1933 in Berlin ) was a German musician .

Life

At the age of 14 he went to the Stern Conservatory in Berlin and learned to play the violin. In 1878 he came to the academic university where Joseph Joachim and Emanuel Wirth were his special teachers. In 1882 he became a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, where he played under the direction of Johannes Brahms , Hans von Bülow , Anton Rubinstein , Edvard Grieg and Peter Tchaikovsky , among others . In 1891 he was appointed chamber musician in the Royal Chapel in Berlin. The title of Royal Chamber Virtuoso was official recognition for his excellent achievements.

In 1906 he and ten colleagues from this band founded a chamber music association for five strings, five wind instruments and piano. After 1918 he played at the Berlin Opera, later at the State Opera. Gülzow was a member of the Stralsund Freemason Lodge Gustav Adolf to the three stars .
