Adalbert Herwig

Adalbert Herwig (born April 5, 1901 in Allendorf ; † June 17, 1961 in Weende ), farm worker, was a high SA functionary and was appointed a member of the Reichstag of the NSDAP by the party leadership .

Life

In his youth, Herwig attended elementary and trade school. From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the Chappuis Jäger Corps and the Reserve Jäger Battalion 11 (Marburg), with whom he took part in the 1919/20 fighting in the Rhineland and Upper Silesia . In the following years he worked in "the wood industry" before he made his living from 1927 as a farm worker.

After having been a member of various military associations since 1922, Herwig joined the NSDAP on August 1, 1929, in which he gradually took on various functions (including as district manager). Around the same time he joined the SA , in which he was promoted to Standartenführer (April 8, 1931) and finally, as leader of the SA Brigade 59 (Upper Harz), to brigade leader .

From March 1933 to May 1945 Herwig sat as a member of the NSDAP in the Reichstag, in which he represented constituency 15 (East Hanover). Herwig was mayor of Otterndorf from December 1, 1936 to 1942 .
