Adalbert Steiner (born January 24, 1907 in Temesvár , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary , † December 10, 1984 ) was a Romanian football player on the position of defender . In order to avoid confusion with his surname cousin Rudolf Steiner , he was listed in the Romanian sports press as Steiner II .

Career

Steiner began his career in his hometown at Unirea Timișoara . In 1922 he moved to local rivals Chinezul Timișoara , with whom he was able to become Romanian champions three times in a row between 1925 and 1927. In the 1929/30 season Steiner played for CA Timișoara , with whom he was only able to occupy fourth place in the regional championship.

National team

Steiner played a total of 10 games for the Romanian national soccer team , but without being able to score a goal. He made his debut on May 7, 1926 against the Turkish national soccer team . Steiner was nominated for the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay . There he was only used in the clash of Romania against the selection of Peru , but broke his leg in this game and then ended his career. Steiner belonged to the victorious Romanian team at the Balkan Cup 1929–31 . There he was used in the games against Yugoslavia and Greece.
