Adam-Claus Eckert

Adam-Claus Eckert (born August 8, 1946 in Konstanz ) is the chairman of the supervisory board and former managing director of the Dr. Eckert GmbH based in Berlin and Stuttgart.

After graduating from high school, Eckert studied law in Munich, Geneva and Freiburg. After completing his doctorate, he did a two-year internship at the Stockheim company in Düsseldorf.

In 1975 he joined the Dr. Eckert GmbH (previously: Handelshaus Dr. Eckert & Co, Peter Welter, Barbarino), which he has been managing partner since 1991. With the purchase of the Gerhard Ludwig train station bookstore in Cologne in 1988, Eckert initiated the expansion of the family business. In 1998 the PSG Prima Service Gesellschaft Berlin was taken over, the KOHM company (tobacco goods) Karlsruhe was acquired in 1999 and 14 underground stores in Berlin underground stations were acquired in 2006. In 2014, Eckert handed over the management of the corporate group to Torsten Löffler and has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board since then.

From 1980 to 1989 Eckert was deputy chairman and from 1989 to 1998 chairman of the Association of German Train Station Booksellers. In 1998 he founded the station journalist prize, initially endowed with DM 10,000 and currently endowed with € 5,000 , which has since been awarded annually for “outstanding journalistic achievements on the subject of the station”. For many years Eckert was a member of the jury for the award of the "Golden Sales" prize and, between 2005 and 2014, a member of the executive committee of the German Association of Tobacco Retailers (BTWE).

In 2011 the Dr. Eckert Group was named “Stuttgart's Best Employer 2011”.
