Adam (painter)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adam († 1596 in Warsaw ) was a Polish painter who created panel , altar and wall paintings and worked in Warsaw . We are only informed about his paintings by his will , which lists some oil paintings that he probably painted himself. Maybe he is identical to Adam Stańczyk .

Life

Adam had been a citizen of Warsaw since 1573 and probably came from Zakroczym , where he owned a house until his death. In 1588 he was councilor of the Warsaw suburb of Freta. He ran a painting workshop that his wife Agnieszka took over with her new husband after his death.
