Adam Holzman (guitarist)

Adam Holzman (born September 1, 1960 in New York City ) is an American classical guitarist .

Life

Adam Holzmann got his first guitar lessons at the age of seven from his older brother. He studied music at Florida State University and was tutored by Eliot Fisk , Oscar Ghiglia and Andrés Segovia , among others . He won several well-known competitions, including the 1983 Guitar Foundation of America competition in Quebec .

According to his own account, he was the first guitarist to play compositions by Roland Dyens in North America. He also published the first recording of Sergio Assad's watercolors . The American Record Guide judged by Holzman's information his recording of the Venezuelan waltz by Antonio Lauro as a "benchmark".

Holzman is the first professor of guitar at the University of Texas at Austin .
