Adamantios Androutsopoulos

Adamantios Androutsopoulos ( Greek Αδαμάντιος Ανδρουτσόπουλος , * 1919 in Psari , Messenia ; † November 10, 2000 ) was a Greek politician and former prime minister.

He studied law at the University of Athens and in 1959 from Hutchins College, University of Chicago . He later worked as a lawyer and as a professor of law.

During the period of the military dictatorship under Colonel Georgios Papadopoulos , he was finance minister from 1967 to 1971 and then minister of the interior. On May 10, 1973 he was dismissed as Minister of the Interior by Papadopoulos.

After the fall of Papadopoulos by Brigadier General Dimitrios Ioannidis on November 25, 1973, he succeeded Prime Minister Spyros Markezinis , who had only been in office since October 8 . In his cabinet, which was in office until July 23, 1974, he also took over the offices of Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Coordination. Shortly after the start of the Cyprus conflict caused by the coup by Greek soldiers on Cyprus on July 15, 1974 , the military dictatorship collapsed. After the subsequent return to democracy, he withdrew from politics.
