The Adams Glacier is a large glacier more than 20 miles in length that flows into the head end of Vincennes Bay just east of the Hatch Islands .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him after John Quincy Adams (1767-1848), sixth President of the United States . Adams was now after his tenure as President as a member of Congress significantly involved in the formation of the United States Exploring Expedition led by Charles Wilkes (1838-1842) and the subsequent publication of the scientific results of this expedition.
