Admete
Admete ( Greek Ἀδμήτη ) is the daughter of Eurystheus and priestess of Hera in Greek mythology .
In the library of Apollodorus she coveted the belt of the Amazon queen Hippolyte , which she had received from Ares for her bravery . Thereupon Heracles is sent to fulfill one of his twelve labors to fight for the belt for her. At Tzetzes she accompanies him.
After Athenaios , Admete fled from the city of Argos to the island of Samos with a cult image of Hera . The Argives then hired Tyrrhenian pirates to bring the picture back. After the robbery, the pirate's ship lay immobile in the sea until the pirates brought the cult image back to land. The next day the Samians found the statue and tied it to a tree, but Admete untied it, cleaned it, and put it back in the temple. In memory of this event, the festival Tonea ( Τόνεα ) was celebrated on Samos .
