Adolf Geßner (doctor)
Adolf Geßner (born February 4, 1864 in Friedberg (Hesse) , † January 20, 1903 in Erlangen ) was a German gynecologist .
Life
Geßner studied medicine in Gießen and Erlangen from the winter semester 1883/84 . As an active member of the Corps Teutonia Giessen , he was chairman of the Kösener Congress in 1887 . After completing his doctorate, he became an assistant doctor at the university women's clinic in Berlin in 1893 and a private lecturer in Erlangen in 1897, and in 1901 full professor and director of the university women's clinic and midwifery school in Erlangen, succeeding Richard Frommel . Under Geßner's direction, the university women's clinic was enlarged considerably in 1902 with the inauguration of the west wing.
