Adolf Greber

Adolf Greber (born May 4, 1896 in Au , Vorarlberg ; † January 12, 1966 in Nüziders , Vorarlberg) was an Austrian politician, teacher and district school inspector. From 1934 to 1938 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

After attending primary school in Au, Greber graduated from the teacher training college in Innsbruck , where he passed his school-leaving examination in 1914. He then served in the 1st Regiment of the Tyrolean Kaiserjäger during the First World War . After his return from the war he worked as a teacher in Hard and Reuthe, was qualified to teach elementary schools in 1920 and secondary schools in 1922, and then from 1923 to 1936 he held the office of principal of Egg. He was then director of the secondary school in Bludenz from 1936 to 1940 and director from 1940 to 1941 and rector of the boys and girls secondary school in Bludenz from 1941 to 1945. He also did military service in World War II. Greber was from 1936 to 1938 and from 1945 to 1961 inspector of the agricultural vocational schools in Vorarlberg and from 1945 to 1961 district school inspector of Bludenz.

Politics and functions

Greber was a member of the Vorarlberger Heimatwehr and Baonsführer in the Bregenzerwald . He was also active from 1934 to 1936 as the district manager of the Fatherland Front in the Bregenzerwald. In 1934 he was appointed to the state parliament by the Vorarlberg governor as a representative of the school, education and popular education system and was a member of the state parliament from November 14, 1934 until the annexation of Austria on March 12, 1938. He was also a member of the Catholic teachers' association.

Private

Adolf Greber was born as the son of the farmer and innkeeper Josef Greber and his wife Maria Berlinger (1865-1901). He married Hedwig Metzler (1897–1967) on June 2, 1924 in Egg and had six children between 1925 and 1936.
