Adolf Müller (1978)

Adolf Müller (born May 13, 1916 in Lennep (now part of Remscheid ), † February 22, 2005 ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Müller was born the son of a master cutter. After attending primary school, he first completed an apprenticeship as a grinder in a hammer forge and later passed the skilled worker examination in the Remscheid small iron industry. He did Reich Labor Service in 1937 , was then drafted into the Wehrmacht , and took part in World War II as a soldier from 1939 . At the end of the war he was taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1945.

Müller worked as a specialist secretary for labor law and social policy at the DGB in Remscheid from 1947 and in 1953 became executive chairman of the local DGB committee there. He had been a member of the state district executive since 1955 and from 1958 to 1978 deputy state district chairman of the DGB North Rhine-Westphalia . He was also a member of the Kolping Family and the Catholic Workers' Movement (KAB).

Political party

Müller joined the CDU in 1945 and was later elected to the state executive committee of the CDU Rhineland . In addition, he was deputy chairman of the Christian Democratic Workers' Union (CDA) Rhineland and a member of the CDA federal board.

MP

Müller was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1987. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia. The social politician was from 1965 to 1969 chairman of the Bundestag committee for labor and from 1969 to September 1981 deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee for labor and social order. From 1972 to 1981 he was first chairman of the workers' group and then from 1981 to 1987 deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group .
