Adolf Meyer (born March 16, 1840 in Leipzig ; died January 9, 1890 in Berlin ) was a German theater actor and director .

Life

Meyer began his stage career at the court theater in Dessau on August 1, 1857, during which time he was active in the field of first heroes for 18 years. In 1876 he came to the city theater in Cologne, then Leipzig and Düsseldorf. He died in Berlin on January 9, 1890.

Among his most popular roles were "Götz", "Faust", "Tell", "Odoardo Galotti", "Wallenstein" etc. In addition to his acting activities, he also worked as a director.

His sisters were the actresses Clara and Hedwig Meyer .
