Adolf Schoyer

Adolf Schoyer (born August 28, 1872 in Berlin , † June 15, 1961 in Bad Kissingen ) was a German industrialist of Jewish origin .

Life

Schoyer was a leading industrialist in Berlin. He was also the leader of the local Orthodox Jewish community . He succeeded Kommerzienrat Norbert Levy in 1929 as the successor in the office of first chairman of the "Association of German Metal Dealers" (VDM) - today the Association of German Metal Dealers - based in the Berlin Stock Exchange and headed the association until the National Socialists came to power. In addition, he was chairman of the board of the Berlin metal exchange and chairman of the "Association of companies involved in German precious metal wholesaling". From 1925 to 1932 he was also a member of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society . In 1938 he emigrated to England and returned in 1945.

After the Second World War , around 1946, Schoyer was chairman of the “Association of Jewish Refugees” (AJR) founded by Jewish refugees in 1941, now an international association that cares for Holocaust survivors and refugees. In 1957 he received the Federal Cross of Merit .

Schoyer died during a spa stay in Bad Kissingen.
