Adolf Siebrecht

Adolf Gustav Siebrecht (born December 28, 1937 - † August 27, 2019 ) was a German prehistorian and museologist .

Life

Adolf Siebrecht studied prehistory and ancient history in the history section at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . In 1991 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. at the University of Education in Magdeburg . The subject of his four-volume dissertation is Halberstadt from an urban archaeological point of view. The soil finds from the 8th to 13th centuries from the medieval urban area and their historical development . He worked at the City Museum in Halberstadt and was its director until 1999. The North Harz Yearbook was published by him for over two decades.

On the occasion of the 1200th anniversary of the Diocese of Halberstadt, Adolf Siebrecht organized the national symposium History and Culture of the Diocese of Halberstadt 804–2004 from March 24th to 28th, 2004 , for which he also published the extensive transcript with the individual lectures of the speakers at the symposium.

Honors

In 1990 he and his museum team were awarded the Halberstadt City Culture Prize. Siebrecht was an honorary member of the Harz Association for History and Archeology .
