Adrian John Charles Hope, 4th Marquess of Linlithgow (born July 1, 1946 ) is a British nobleman and politician.

life and career

Adrian Hope is the son of Charles Hope, 3rd Marquess of Linlithgow and his wife Vivien Kenyon-Slaney . He attended Eton College .

When his father died in 1987, he inherited his title of nobility, including the associated seat in the House of Lords . He gave his inaugural address in parliament in 1991. In 1999, the House of Lords Act made him lose his hereditary seat in parliament. The family seat, Hopetoun House near Edinburgh , is now home to his son and title heir Andrew Hope, Earl of Hopetoun. The 4th Marquess himself lives in the associated estate. His fortune was estimated at over £ 20 million in 1999 .

On January 9, 1968, he married Anne Pamela Leveson for the first time. The marriage ended in divorce in 1978. He has two children with Anne:

  • Andrew Victor Arthur Charles Hope, Earl of Hopetoun (born May 22, 1969)
  • Alexander John Adrian Hope (born February 3, 1971)

In 1980 he married Peta Carol Binding in his second marriage. This marriage ended in divorce in 1997. He has two children with Peta:

  • Louisa Civienne Hope (born April 16, 1981)
  • Robert Charles Robin Adrian Hope (born January 17, 1984)

On November 1, 1997, he married Auriol Veronica Mackeson-Sandbach, the third marriage.
