Adriel Brathwaite

Adriel Brathwaite Dermot QC is a politician from Barbados from the Democratic Labor Party (DLP), the 2008-2018 member of the House of Assembly and since 2010 Attorney General and Minister of the Interior in the cabinet of Prime Minister of Barbados Freundel Stuart was.

Life

Brathwaite completed his elementary education at St. Martins Primary and his secondary education at Harrison College, and then began law studies at the University of the West Indies , Cave Hill Campus, which he earned an LL. B. graduated with honors. He also obtained a Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School (HWLS) in Trinidad and Tobago . After being admitted to the bar in 1987, he took up a position as a lawyer and specialized in business law . For his legal services he was appointed Crown Counsel (Queen's Counsel) .

Brathwaite began his political career when he was a candidate for the Democratic Labor Party (DLP) in the January 2008 elections in the constituency of St. Philip South and was elected to the House of Assembly for the first time.

After the death of the previous Prime Minister David Thompson on October 23, 2010, he took over from Freundel Stuart , who was Thompson's successor as Prime Minister, his previous offices as Attorney General (Attorney General) and Minister of Home Affairs (Minister of Home Affairs) in the new Stuart Cabinet. Stuart confirmed him in these offices after the electoral success of the DLP in the elections of February 21, 2013 until the party was replaced in May 2018.
