The Adventure Cycling Association (ACA) is a non-profit cycling association in the United States that currently has approximately 44,000 members. Compared to the German ADFC , the focus is more on the development and promotion of (partly guided) cycling routes, less on promoting the bicycle as an everyday means of transport. Its headquarters are in Missoula , Montana .

It was founded in 1973 under the name Bikecentennial . In 1976, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, a total of around 4,100 cyclists crossed the USA from both directions on the Bike Centennial Trail (now the TransAmerica Trail ), of which around 2,000 cyclists drove the entire route (some with sponsorship and supply vehicles, some independently as self-sufficient).

Currently, the ACA has developed a network of cycling routes in the United States that covers approximately 41,400 miles . Most of the routes are on side roads with little traffic, the routes are usually not signposted and are either followed by a map or using a GPS track.
