Aergia

Aergia ( ancient Greek Ἀεργία ) is the Greek goddess or a daimon of laziness, time out, idleness and indolence. Her parents are Gaia and Aither . In Roman it corresponds to Socordia or Ignavia .

Myth and Description

In Hyginus , the siblings Dolor (pain), Dolus (deception), Ira (anger), Luctus (sadness), Mendacium (lie), Iusiurandum (oath), Ultio (vengeance), Intemperantia (intemperance), Altercatio (quarrel), Oblivio , Timor (fear), Superbia (pride), Incestum (lust) and Pugna (struggle). Horme is also mentioned, who as the goddess of activity is her opponent.

Little is known about her, except that she is supposed to guard the realm of Hypnos together with Hesychia (Quies) and Oblivio . Therefore, it is also described that in front of the grotto a sleepy and sluggish effect is transferred to one.
