Aerobics
An aerobilie - from Greek: aer, aeros (air) and Latin: bilis (bile) - is understood to mean air bubbles in the biliary tract that can be detected using X-rays, computer tomography or sonography .
Possible causes are:
- a (therapeutic) papillotomy as part of an ERCP
- a biliodigestive anastomosis (a surgical connection of the bile duct and bowel )
- a biliodigestive fistula (spontaneous connection between the bile duct and intestine )
- in the case of stone perforation in the intestinal tract with obstruction of the duodenum ( Bouveret's syndrome ) or obstruction of the terminal small intestine and gallstone ileus in the context of gallstone disease . (This results in the clinical triad: aerobilia, small intestinal ileus, possibly stone shadow during sonography)
- rarely gas-forming bacteria (such as Clostridium perfringens ) in cholecystitis emphysematosa or cholangitis .
- Post mortem aerospace due to trauma damage is also possible.
