Hilbrand Hartlief

Hilbrand Hartlief (born September 11, 1948 in Apeldoorn , † March 5, 2006 in Pieterburen ) was a Dutch volleyball player and sports reporter .

Hartlief celebrated his greatest triumphs in the 1970s when he played in the squad of the honorary division leader Lycurgus Groningen . In total, he played 38 games for the Dutch national team in his career.

After his active sports career, Hartlief worked as a trainer for various volleyball teams at the district level. He also worked as a freelance reporter for the Dutch regional broadcaster RTV Noord , where he was responsible for a wide range of sports.

On the morning of March 5, 2006, he came off the road with his car in the village of Pieterburen on a snow-covered lane and overturned in an adjacent canal. Hartlief got trapped underwater and drowned.
