Aeropuerto Internacional Guaraní is an international airport near the city of Ciudad del Este in Paraguay . It is the second largest airport in the country after the Aeropuerto Internacional Silvio Pettirossi . The airport was built in 1993 as an extension of the former Alejo García airfield. It was named after the indigenous people of the same name .
International cargo and scheduled flights have existed since 1996. The airport is located around 25 kilometers west of the center of Ciudad del Este on expressway 7 in the Alto Paraná department .
