Aerostatics
The aerostatics is a branch of fluid statics the teaching of motionless, in particular the flow-free, compressible fluids (gases). Aerostatics deals with the density distribution primarily in the air. One of the associated applications is the barometric altitude formula .
Missiles whose density is lower than that of air are also referred to in English as aerostat - a generic term for balloons , blimps and airships .
Fields of work
Some fields of work in aerostatics are:
- the kinetic gas theory
- the gas pressure
- the air pressure measurement (with the help of a barometer )
- the gas density
- the composition of the soil air
- the partial pressure in gas mixtures
- Air pressure fluctuations
- Composition of the mountain air
- the cross section of the earth's atmosphere
