Aeschacher Hof

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Aeschacher Hof was a traditional inn in the heart of the Lindau district of Aeschach . The building with the address Ludwig-Kick -Str. 2 was demolished in December 2011.

history

Mentioned for the first time in a travel guide in 1874 as “Sting's Weinstube”, at that time it was still at the beginning of what was then “Stattgraben” in the village of Aeschach. In Lindau's address book from 1909, the "Aeschacher Hof" is already referred to as an inn and guesthouse and is advertised accordingly by the owner Karl Sting:

"Nice quiet location, guest rooms with and without a pension, shady garden, draft beer, excellent pure wines, good home-style cuisine."

In 1908 the family gave up the operation of the restaurant, which was leased from the innkeeper Karl Froescher from January 1909. The supply of beer was guaranteed from 1913 onwards by the "Löwenbrauerei" from Meckatz , which in 1928 bought the "Aeschacher Hof" from the then Kommerzienrat and bank manager Karl Sting. This was in April 1933 as part of the DC circuit of the young Nazi dictatorship in the also his volunteer job as second mayor of the town of Lindau on.

After the end of the totalitarian regime in 1945 and with the resurgence of Lindau club life, numerous events by clubs and parties took place in the adjoining room of the Aeschacher Hof. So found u. a. the opening rally of the newly founded DVP (today part of the FDP ), whose first chairman in the Lindau district was former mayor Karl Sting, took place here in September 1946. However, parties like the now banned KPD and the NPD also found space for events.

In 1977, Meckatzer Löwenbräu received a city award for the successful renovation of the facade of the Aeschacher Hof, which was renewed in 1997.

Demolition 2011

After Aeschacher citizens successfully protested against the owners' plans to tear down the Aeschacher Hof as early as 1987, Meckatzer decided to keep the traditional inn in order to preserve a piece of the old Aeschach, which "also corresponds to the company's awareness of tradition and the company's philosophy". In December 2011, according to the plans of a new owner, Werner Mang , the demolition took place out of economic interests. Today a residential and commercial building is being built on the site of the former Aeschacher Hof.

Critics complain that the Aeschacher Hof (not under monument protection), the last evidence of the historical core of Aeschach, was sacrificed for a new building without much resistance from the city of Lindau.

meaning

In addition to the culinary, the Aeschacher Hof was in demand because of its adjoining room. In addition to various party events, club activities took place here, for example the founding of EV Lindau or Club Vaudeville, as well as the regular readers' round tables of the Lindauer Zeitung .
