Afet Ilgaz

Afet Muhteremoğlu Ilgaz (born January 2, 1937 in Ezine , † January 16, 2015 in Istanbul ) was a Turkish writer .

Life

After studying philosophy in Istanbul, she worked there as a teacher. She worked in literature from 1956, mainly writing short stories and novels . Before her wedding to the writer Rıfat Ilgaz , she published under the name Afet Muhteremoğlu.

Ilgaz has won a number of Turkish literary prizes. She also worked as the founder of a publishing house Sınıf Yayınları and her own elementary school. Only her short story Schöpferisch sein (1984) has been translated into German so far . As a columnist for Millî Gazete , she also worked as a journalist.

She died on January 16, 2015 in Istanbul at the age of 78.
