Affiliated Computer Services ( ACS ) was a software company from the United States that specialized in outsourcing , among other things .

The company's headquarters were in Dallas , Texas . ACS was founded in 1988 by Darwin Deason and, following its takeover by Xerox , operated in around 160 countries worldwide. The company was listed in the S&P 500 and in 2009 employed around 78,000 people. It was listed as # 1122 on Forbes Global 2000 and # 401 on Fortune 500 for 2009 .

Following the announcement in September 2009, the company was acquired by Xerox in February 2010 for $ 6.4 billion. Xerox sold the outsourcing component to the French Atos SE , effective July 1, 2015.
