Afridun Amu

Afridun Amu (born June 23, 1987 in Kabul ) was the first wave rider to represent Afghanistan in a surfing world championship. In 2012 he founded the Wave Riders Association of Afghanistan . Amu won the men's first official Afghan surf championship in 2015 in Ericeira , Portugal , and is the reigning Afghan surf champion. In May 2017 he also took part in the World Surfing Games of the International Surfing Association (ISA) in Biarritz , France .

Afridun Amu was born on June 23, 1987 in Kabul, Afghanistan and spent his childhood in Moscow , Russia , where his father worked as a diplomat, until he and his family moved to Germany as a political refugee in 1992 . In addition to the first state examination in law, he has degrees in cultural studies and design thinking . He is currently working as a constitutional law expert at the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law and as a lecturer in Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute .
