African Association of German Business
The Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft e. V. is a foreign trade association that promotes economic relations between Germany and the countries of Africa .
The most important purposes include providing information about economic and political events in Africa, organizing events such as Africa Business Week and representing its members' interests. The association informs its members twice a month through an email newsletter Afrika-Brief and through the magazine afrika -irtschaft . More than 100 events are organized in Germany and Africa every year. These include the annual German-African Energy Forum, G20 conferences, delegation trips to African countries, annual business forums to countries such as Angola , Kenya , Libya , South Africa and Nigeria, and bilateral business days in Germany. The association also maintains intensive contacts with the federal government, African governments and embassies as well as with associations and NGOs .
history
In 1934 it was entered in the register of associations as the Hamburg-Bremen Africa Association. With the end of the Second World War he had to temporarily stop his activities, but he was able to resume his club work in 1948. In the following years, the Bremen wing increasingly lost its importance, so that it was renamed Africa Association Hamburg .
Africa Association of German Business Today
Today the association has 600 members and has offices in Hamburg and Berlin.
The chairman is Stefan Liebing, the chief executive officer is Christoph Kannengießer.
