The Agaplesion Diakonieklinikum Rotenburg is a maximum care hospital in the Lower Saxony city of Rotenburg (Wümme) . The house belonging to the Agaplesion is one of the largest hospitals in Lower Saxony . Until July 2013 it was called Diakoniekrankenhaus Rotenburg (Wümme) .
history
In 1880, what is now known as the “ Rotenburg Works of the Inner Mission ” was founded for the mentally handicapped. In 1905, the Evangelical Lutheran Deaconess Mother House Bethesda, founded by Elise Averdieck, moved its headquarters from Hamburg to Rotenburg. This step was associated with the construction of a hospital (today's Diakoniekrankenhaus) and the assumption of care for the residents of the Rotenburg works.
In the 1970s, a large new main house was built, which is constantly being expanded to this day.
The Diakoniekrankenhaus in the district town of Rotenburg in Lower Saxony is now a hospital with the highest level of care. Around 2,300 employees work for their patients in 21 clinics and institutes as well as several medical departments, MVZs and occupational departments. The hospital with around 700 beds is a teaching hospital of the University of Hamburg . The Diakoniekrankenhaus in Rotenburg is one of the largest hospitals in northern Germany. Over 900 nurses and around 250 doctors treat and care for more than 30,000 inpatients and 100,000 outpatients every year. It is one of the most important local employers.
Today the hospital consists of houses A to D, the neighboring motherhouse area and the clinic for child and adolescent psychiatry, psychotherapy in the Unterstedt district .
In 2007, ProDiako signed a cooperation agreement with the neighboring Aller-Weser Clinic with locations in Verden and Achim . In 2010 the Diakoniekrankenhaus and the district of Verden agreed to aim for a minority participation of the Diakoniekrankenhaus of over 25 percent in the Aller-Weser-Kliniken.
In 2012, the Frankfurt hospital company Agaplesion took over proDiako and thus also took over the majority of the Diakoniekrankenhaus. On August 1, 2013 the Diakoniekrankenhaus was renamed Agaplesion Diakonieklinikum Rotenburg.
In May 2018, the chief physician of child and adolescent psychiatry, Bernhard Prankel, was released and an independent contact point was set up. The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf suspended cooperation with the KJP as an academic teaching hospital. In the revision hearing before the regional labor court in Hanover in 2020, Bernhard Prankel was again defeated after the labor court in Verden had already ruled against him.
