Agariste (daughter of Kleisthenes)
Agariste ( Greek Ἀγαρίστη [Agaríste]) was the daughter of the ancient Greek tyrant Kleisthenes of Sicyon .
Her father wanted to give her to the bravest and noblest of all Greeks as a wife and called suitors from all over Greece to him. After song, flute and dance competitions, he gave Agariste to the Athenian Megakles as his wife.
The couple had several children, including Kleisthenes of Athens , who divided Attica into ten phyls and established democracy in Athens , and Hippocrates , whose daughter was also called Agariste .
