Agbia

Agbia was an ancient city in North Africa in the Roman province of Africa proconsularis near Thugga in northern Tunisia .

In the Roman Empire, Agbia is documented as pagus and civitas for the 2nd century, and as a municipality around the year 300 . Agbia was on a road from Carthage to Theveste , which is documented by the Tabula Peutingeriana and milestones.

The titular diocese of Agbia of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to a late antique bishopric of the city .

There are ruins of a Roman city complex and a Byzantine fortress.
